Yesterday we set out for our annual trip to Missouri at 12:30 p.m. About 45 minutes later, just past Park City, Brooke started puking. It was awful (I won’t go into details, and don’t worry, I didn’t take photos to include with this post). Things were made worse by the fact that she had previously drunk red fruit punch and we were in a rental car with light tan seats.
We pulled over at the first little gas station we could find and I spent the next hour cleaning up Brooke and the car. We cleaned the gas station out of plastic bags as I used them to bag up the soiled wet wipes, clothing, car seat cover, blanket, pillow case and Cabbage Patch Kid. All this time we debated continuing on or going home to clean up properly and avoid the same situation continuously occurring over the next 20 hours.
Finally we made the hard decision to turn around and go home. The kids cried most of the way home (Brooke finally zonked out). They were heartbroken that they wouldn’t be seeing Papa Lewis. We pulled into the driveway at 3:30 p.m. I can honestly say that was about the shortest “vacation” I’ve ever been on.
We’re thinking maybe if we save up, we could afford to fly out to Missouri in September when Luke is off track (year round school). I’d rather sit on a plane for 5 hours with a barf covered kid than in a car for 20!

Dream Job
Luke to Mommy after placing an order at the drive-thru: "Maybe when I'm a big grown-up I could work at McDonald's!"
Lullaby
Brooke likes to sing this little lullaby to her babies and Slugger:
Blah, blah black sheep,
Heavy, heavy wool,
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full
One for the master,
One for the dame,
and one for the little boy who lives in the lake.
Blah, blah black sheep,
Heavy, heavy wool,
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full

P-P-P-Puppy Power!
Welcome to the family Slugger!
Yesterday we got an 8 week old puppy. He's a malti-poo toy beagle mix. He should only get about 6 or 7 lbs. and is supposed to by hypoallergenic so Jason should be safe with him (allergies/asthma). So far he fits right in with our family. Just like my kids, he cries in the middle of the night and keeps me up! He's very affectionate and likes to run around the yard with the kids.

Read This Series
As you probably already know, I am a big fan of reading!! So, today I am posting about this new series I am into. It’s called the Sisters Grimm by Michael Buckley. So far there are 4 books with the 5th due out some time later this year (Dec). I am hooked.
Who is this series for? Anyone who likes mysteries and Harry Potter. It is a kids’ fiction series, but not too young that adults won’t love it too.
Salt Lake County Library System has them, so get a copy and start reading them ASAP! Then let me know you’ve read them and we can have a chat about how you liked/disliked them.

Front Page News
Every morning I read the paper online. First I check out the Deseret News then I hit the Salt Lake Tribune. Today this is the image that greeted me on the Trib's site:
Notice the handsome reporter on the right? Yep, it's Jason Shepherd!!! How sweet is that? To be on the "Front Page" as the first photo/story of the morning??!!??
