A Night with the Utah Jazz

We got Jazz tickets as part of the "Entertainment Package" from Larry H. Miller when Jason bought his new car last summer. Our game was the Jazz vs. the L.A. Lakers last night.

Luke loved watching Kirilenko and Brooke's favorite part was watching the Jazz Dancers.

Everybody was doing good until right before half-time. It was about then that the kids decided they would rather be home. We distracted them with the "Where's Jazz Bear?" game and "Look! the Jazz stunt team!" Sadly, the Jazz lost, but we had a great family night anyway.

If I could be a Disney Princess, I would be…

If I could be a Disney Princess, I would be Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty). Why?

  1. Well, there’s the whole sleeping thing to take into account (I never get enough)
  2. She has the gift of song and a beautiful voice
  3. Long blonde hair
  4. The awesome dress that changes from blue to pink
  5. Two pretty names – Aurora and Briar Rose
  6. She has a crown

Funny About Food

The marquee at Ab’s Drive-In is advertising the shake flavor of the month as chocolate covered cherry. This made me shudder as I imagined those sickly syrupy chocolate covered cherries that my Dad and little brother enjoy. I REALLY don’t like them. And then I got to thinking about how I enjoy chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate oranges, so why not chocolate covered cherries? I mean I like chocolate, I like cherries…but together, not so much.

Here is a list of other foods that I started realizing that I enjoy in one form but not in another:

raw carrots are yummy , I’ll even eat them with the dirt still on them– but I hate HATE cooked carrots

enjoy fresh cherries – can’t stand maraschino cherries

love fresh green beans – have to force myself to eat canned green beans

love fresh or frozen peas – won’t touch peas from a can

love fresh or frozen corn – hate canned or creamed corn

won’t eat ketchup or tomatoes – do like spaghetti sauce or other tomato saucey things, like enchiladas

only fruity cream cheese, please or one with nuts in it on my bagel

Hey! That's Me!!

Yesterday I was going through old videos trying to locate the original footage of our Family Reunion when I came across a couple with ambiguous title or not titles. I popped them in the camera and hit play.

All of a sudden we were watching videos of Luke when he was a few minutes old and as he grew. We continued on to Brooke being born and then went back to video of our Honeymoon. It was so funny to the kids to see themselves as babies and wearing diapers. It was so amazing to me how much my kids have changed in the last few years.

It made me realize how lucky we are to have cameras and video cameras to capture the things our children do and say. I think I’ll remember every little detail when something happens, but it’s kinda impossible since they are always doing something I want to remember forever.

Someday I’ll get the time together and put the video together in some fun way and get it onto DVD, but for now we’ll just enjoy what we have. My biggest goal is to start adding more memories to tape!

Kickin' It with Kirilenko

A local dentist was trying to drum up some new business, so he advertised meeting Jazz Bear and Andrei Kirilenko at his office today.

Jason took Luke & Brooke on over and waited almost two hours to meet them. I think he thinks it was totally worth it! Both kids got Kirilenko's autograph too.

Princess Brooke Elise

Brooke has discovered the Disney Princesses in the last couple of weeks. She has been telling us "I wish I had a princess crown" since before Christmas. I bribed her with a crown if she could sleep in her room all month. We put stickers on her Dora calendar for every night that she stayed in her room all night. We had very few at the beginning of the month, but the last two weeks she has stayed put all night.

Last night was her final test, and she passed, so this afternoon we headed out and chose a crown. She's very proud of herself!

As always, Luke likes to get in on a photo op, even if it means having a goofy potato chip face!
