Halloween 2008

I know he doesn't look happy, but really Luke is. He's just mad that Brooke keeps running into his "BY MYSELF" photos.
It was so warm, the kids didn't need coats, mittens and scarves this year! It didn't even rain on us in our neighborhood! It was the BEST Halloween EVER!!!

We've Been Hit...

...or Boo'd as you may call it. For those of you who don't know of this little Halloween "tradition", it's where you leave a treat (NOT a flaming bag of poo) and a note on a doorstep, ring the bell and run. The receipient now has the responsibility to pass on the fun.

As you can see my kids were super thrilled! They LOVE donuts, so it was even more exciting. Thank you Spookie, whoever you are!!!

Yeah, they got a little bit cheesy after the first shot...
P.S. - were you brave enough to click on the link to Flaming Bag of Poo????

Lil' Pumpkins

The kids decorated pumpkins at Nanny & Papa's house. It was fun and a little messy (as I think pumpkin decorating should be!)!

Aunt Jessica drew the skeleton free hand for Luke to paint - AWESOME, huh?!

Brooke had a pretty princess face, and just kept going to town from there...

Who Is Luke?

Today I was blessed to see my son through his classmates eyes.

Two weeks ago Luke was the class VIP. He got to bring in a poster about himself and some treasures. Today he came home with a cut-out of himself that is filled with statements about him as written by his teacher and classmates.

As I read them, my eyes were filled with tears and my heart was so proud. I would like to share them with you:

"Luke doesn't butt in line. He doesn't push anybody in line. He colors good. He is nice to everybody." - Ashlyn

"Luke minds the teacher. He does a lot of good stuff. He is mostly better than most of the kids. He isn't noisy in the bathrooms. He is nice and helps others. Whenever Mrs. Assel says anything he follows the rules. He is a very good friend. He is fun to have in the classroom. He good at writing [sic].” – Sean L.

“Luke is my cousin and I like him. He sometimes sits by me on the floor. He does good writing and he does good math. He does good projects. He likes me.” Makayla (Her great-great-grandpa is Jason’s grandpa’s brother. We just found they were related at a recent family reunion.)

“Luke raises his hand. He tells me things. He plays nicely with others. He walks nice in the halls.” - Corrine

“Luke is a nice friend because he helps people. He colors nice. He has good manners. He doesn’t yell out.” - Jada

Jealousy

I have a very grumpy daughter and dog.

I'm babysitting a baby today and Brooke informed me that I'm not giving her enough attention because I'm giving it to the baby! I know the dog agrees with her.

Wee Witches Weekend

Back to see the Witches at Gardner Village today. It was a warm and sunny day and Luke was off school. What a fun thing to do with my kids - let them dress up and see "real" and pretend witches!

Yep, I even got into a photo this time!

Brooke sat by a witch today, but notice Luke kept his distance...

Witches 2008

After dropping Jason off at work this afternoon, the girls and I stopped off at Gardner Village for some fun with the Witches.

They were very hesitant at first to stand near them, so most of our photos have them giving the witches their space...

Witchie Poo is Brooke's favorite witch. She moved this year, so we looked everywhere to find her. After we found her, Brooke says to me, "By the way, seeing Witchie Poo makes me need to use the potty..."

We stopped by Sweet Afton's and I pulled out enough change from my pocket to buy 3 sticks of candy (Luke gets one after school to make up for the fact that he missed this great day!)

All the way home the girls kept telling me, "THANK YOU for taking us to Gardner Village to see the witches!!!!" "This was such a great day!!" and things like that. I kept telling the Lord "Thank You!!" too. It really was a great day! I wish the weather could be this nice all year long. Next time I need to go with my big gal pals!

Sigh...

I hate that I can't make fat chocolate chip cookies...only FLAT ones...

Oh well, everyone loved to eat them anyway! Besides, the cookie dough was the best part.

6 Randoms

Here is a compilation of "random tags" I've been hit with this week:

1. Name some fears you have: HEIGHTS, my parents dying, having something happen to me where I don’t die - I just end up living with constant pain or disfigurement.

2. What’s your favorite song at the moment? “Driving in the Dark” by Saves the Day

3. What is the last thing that made you laugh the hardest? Last night on “My Name Is Earl” Randy was trying to act British and he said “Hip Hip, Cheerios, Harry Potter!” and I just busted a gut and almost fell out of bed.

4. What is your last thought before going to sleep? “I wish I could stay awake and keep reading.”

5. Did you ever want to change your name when you were younger? When I was 5 or 6 I hated the name Heather. I wanted to be called something exotic like Sally or Linda.

6. What did you want to be when you grew up when you were little? A ballerina, a singer, an actress, and in the circus. Now to explain that last one – I grew up in the era of Circus of the Stars. That was when my favorite TV show actors got to learn a circus act and then performed them on TV for us. It fit right in with my being an actress. I mean, check out the outfits – who wouldn’t want to wear those????
