First Day of First Grade

Yesterday was the first day of school for grades 2-6. First graders got to have a "meet the teacher" day.

This year, Luke got Mrs. Assel. We went in to meet her and she asked Luke some questions. His response to "What did you learn in Kindergarten?" was "The alphabet." ??? He learned that in Preschool! He gave Mrs. Assel really short answers while trying to look around the room. Then he got to pick out his desk. He chose to sit by a boy who was in his Kindergarten class and behind Nicole from Primary class. I'm thankful that there are at least 2 kids he will know.
Here is Luke with Mitchell today. His first FULL day of school. Thanks Shannon for letting Mitchell come with us. I figured that if he was with Luke it might feel less scary for his first morning on the big playground (that is less scary for me).  He will be buying hot lunch today because we learned that it is Chicken Nuggets. He had his lunch packed yesterday morning after I got home from the grocery store, but who can pass up Chicken Nuggets (besides me that is)?

Luke was so excited that he just ran off toward the playground and kept having to turn around and call "Come on Mitchell! Let's go!" I hope his good mood and excitement last all day (and all year!).
